Date, exact time of birth and place — the time to the minute is what makes the chart usable.
Astrology · Personal Astrology
Business Astrology reads the chart of the person starting or running the venture — the tenth and eleventh houses, the running dasha, and the transits over the period in question. Since a firm has no birth chart of its own, the founder's chart is what is read.

How it works
Date, exact time of birth and place — the time to the minute is what makes the chart usable.
Your Janma Kundali, divisional charts, running dasha and current gochara are read together.
A written answer to the question you asked, with the placements it rests on stated plainly.
A call with the astrologer to go over the reading and the remedies, if you want one.
Guide
It is asked for before starting a venture, when considering a partnership or expansion, or when fixing the timing for a launch.
Astrologers differ on method — ayanamsa, dasha system and house division are all matters on which respected traditions disagree. A reading states which conventions it follows, and describes tendency and timing rather than settling a decision for you.

Sources
The first list is what published practice describes consistently. The second is where schools, regions and sampradayams legitimately differ — and where the astrologer’s own tradition decides the answer rather than a general rule.
In plain terms
A business has no birth chart, so Business Astrology reads the founder's — the seventh bhava for trade and partnership, the tenth and eleventh for standing and gains, Mercury as the karaka of commerce, and the running dasha over the period in question. What it indicates is whether the chart inclines to independent enterprise and which periods support a start, an expansion or a change of line. It says nothing about whether a particular idea is commercially sound, which is not an astrological question.

Related consultations
A business brings several questions with it, and this page answers one of them. The others — the name, the opening day, the partner, the money — each have a reading of their own.
A partnership is a seventh-bhava matter in both charts. Each is read on its own, then together — the same structure as a match, for the same reason.
Marriage Compatibility →Worked from the founder's chart with a numerological check where the family asks for it. Says nothing about trademark or registration, which are checked separately.
Business Name Selection →Cast forward from the panchangam for the place the business is in. A different reading from this one, and the one most often asked for in the same breath.
Business Opening Muhurtham →If the real question is whether to leave employment at all, that is the tenth and the sixth — a career reading — before it is a business one.
Career Astrology →Capital, return and debt are the second, eleventh and sixth. The business reading touches the eleventh; the finance reading opens all three.
Finance Astrology →Where the business will sit is a vastu question, not an astrological one, and a floor plan answers it better than a chart does.
Commercial Vastu →The reading and the venture
| From the founder's chart | Not in any chart | |
|---|---|---|
| Inclination to enterprise | What the seventh and the tenth indicate about working independently versus in an organisation. | Whether the idea is any good. |
| Partnership | What the seventh bhava and Mercury indicate about trade with others, and how the partner's chart reads on its own. | Whether the partner is trustworthy. |
| Timing | Which dasha and bhukti periods support a start or an expansion, and which counsel consolidation. | Whether the market is ready. |
| Return | What the eleventh indicates about gains, in tendency. | Any figure, margin or forecast. |
| A difficult stretch | Whether the running period is one associated with obstruction, and when it ends. | What is wrong with the business. That is in the accounts, not the chart. |
A chart can say whether a life inclines to enterprise and when the periods support it. It cannot see the market, the product or the books, and the right column belongs entirely to commercial judgement.

Come prepared
Bring the decision — a start, an expansion, a partner, a change of line — rather than the topic. These keep the reading on the chart and off the business plan.
Suitability
A chart cannot see a market, a product or a balance sheet, and it does not know whether an idea is sound. It reads a person's inclination to enterprise and the periods that support it, from a house whose significations were written for trades that no longer exist. Take the reading as one input into a decision that needs commercial, legal and financial advice as well, and treat any astrologer who pronounces on the idea itself as having left the method.
Before you book
Do not act on a reading alone where a decision also needs professional advice — medical, legal or financial. A consultation is one input, and it is offered as one.

Common questions
No. It reads what the trade and gain houses indicate about the founder and which periods support a launch or an expansion. Whether a particular idea works depends on the market, the capital and the execution — none of which appears in a birth chart.
Where a partnership is the question, yes — the same reasoning that applies to marriage matching applies here, and one chart cannot assess a pairing. Both charts are read individually before they are read against each other.
They answer different questions and are often taken together. This reads whether the period supports the venture; a muhurtham fixes the exact time within a date range you have already settled on.
Say so rather than estimating. The lagna moves through a full sign in roughly two hours and every divisional chart is computed from the same degrees, so a guessed time propagates an error through the whole reading. Where the time is genuinely unknown the standard approach is rectification — narrowing it by testing candidate lagnas against events that have already happened.
