Lakshmi Puja in Hyderabad (Laxmi Puja)

Lakshmi Puja is the worship of Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, well-being and the auspicious beginning of anything new. Anugraha Siddhi arranges an experienced Telugu Purohit for Lakshmi Puja in Hyderabad — at home, at a shop or office, on Diwali evening or on any Friday your family observes.

Whether you write it Lakshmi Puja, Laxmi Puja or Lakshmi Pooja, the ceremony is the same: sankalpam, kalasha sthapana, Lakshmi avahanam, archana with the Ashtottara, Sri Suktam or Kanakadhara, naivedyam and aarti. The vidhanam is adapted to your family's tradition and the occasion — a Diwali pooja and a Friday household pooja are not the same length.

Book a Purohit alone and arrange the samagri yourself, or take a package with the agreed materials included. Telugu, Hindi and English communication are available.

What Is Lakshmi Puja?

Lakshmi Puja is the traditional worship of Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu and the deity of wealth, abundance and auspiciousness. The household form invokes her into a kalasham or image, offers the shodashopachara (sixteen services), recites her names and hymns, and closes with naivedyam and aarti. It is performed most widely on Diwali evening, and through the year on Fridays and at new beginnings.

Diwali Lakshmi Puja 2026 — Date and Muhurat

Diwali Lakshmi Puja falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026, the Kartika Amavasya. The five days run from Dhanteras on Friday 6 November to Bhai Dooj on Wednesday 11 November.

The Lakshmi Puja muhurat is the Pradosha kaal after sunset, ideally while a Sthira lagna (Vrishabha) is rising — which is why the pooja is done in the early evening. The exact window shifts by a few minutes across the city; your Purohit fixes the start time for your address, and the Anugraha Siddhi Panchangam shows the day's tithi and timings.

Diwali evening is the busiest Purohit slot of the year. Book as soon as your address and preferred time are fixed.

When Is Lakshmi Puja Performed?

Beyond Diwali, families arrange Lakshmi Puja on:

  • Diwali evening — Kartika Amavasya, Sunday 8 November 2026
  • Fridays, especially in Shravana and Kartika masam
  • Sharad Purnima (Kojagari Lakshmi Puja)
  • Navaratri, on the days dedicated to Lakshmi
  • Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras
  • A new shop, showroom, office or business beginning
  • A new home, together with Gruha Pravesham
  • Family occasions where Lakshmi worship is customary

For a Varalakshmi Vratham in Shravana or an Ashtalakshmi Pooja, see their own pages — the vidhanam differs from the general Lakshmi Puja described here.

How Is Lakshmi Puja Performed?

The sequence below is the common Telugu household form. It varies by sampradaya and by occasion; the Purohit confirms the exact vidhanam for your family. A fuller 18-step walkthrough is in our Lakshmi Devi Pooja Vidhanam guide.

  1. Preparation and Purification

The pooja area is cleaned, a rangoli drawn, and the peetham set with the Lakshmi image, Ganesha, lamps and the kalasham. Coins, jewellery or the account books are placed before the deity for a Diwali or business pooja.

  2. Sankalpam and Ganapathi Pooja

The family states the purpose of the worship with their gotram and names. Ganesha is worshipped first, as in every Vedic ceremony.

  3. Kalasha Sthapana and Lakshmi Avahanam

Goddess Lakshmi is invoked into the kalasham or image with the dhyana and avahana mantras.

  4. Shodashopachara

The sixteen services — asanam, padyam, arghyam, snanam, vastram, gandham, pushpam, dhoopam, deepam and the rest — are offered in order.

  5. Archana and Stotras

Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanamavali archana with flowers or kumkum, then Sri Suktam, Mahalakshmi Ashtakam or Kanakadhara Stotram as the format allows. See our Lakshmi Pooja Mantralu for each.

  6. Naivedyam, Aarti and Prasadam

Sweets and the family's customary dishes are offered, followed by mangala harathi, mantra pushpam and prasadam distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Lakshmi Puja in 2026?

Diwali Lakshmi Puja falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026, the Kartika Amavasya. The pooja is performed in the evening Pradosha kaal, roughly 6:30 to 8:30 PM in Hyderabad. Confirm the exact window for your locality on the panchangam or with your Purohit.

What is the Lakshmi Puja muhurat on Diwali?

The traditional window is Pradosha kaal after sunset while the Sthira (fixed) lagna, usually Vrishabha, is rising — this is why Diwali Lakshmi Puja is done in the early evening rather than at midnight. Your Purohit fixes the start time for your address.

Is Lakshmi Puja the same as Laxmi Puja?

Yes. Lakshmi Puja, Laxmi Puja and Lakshmi Pooja are spellings of the same worship of Goddess Lakshmi. Telugu families usually write Lakshmi Pooja; Hindi and Marathi families write Laxmi Puja.

Can I book Lakshmi Puja at home in Hyderabad?

Yes. Anugraha Siddhi arranges a Purohit for Lakshmi Puja at home across Hyderabad. Share your date, locality and language preference, and whether you want samagri arranged.

Is Lakshmi Puja only for Diwali?

No. Families also perform it on Fridays, on Sharad Purnima, during Navaratri, on Akshaya Tritiya, at a new business or shop opening, and on a family occasion where Lakshmi worship is customary.

How long does Lakshmi Puja take?

A household Lakshmi Puja usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes. With Lakshmi Homam or a Kubera Pooja added, allow two to three hours. Confirm the duration once the format is agreed.

What samagri is needed for Lakshmi Puja?

A Lakshmi image or idol, kalasham, turmeric, kumkum, flowers (lotus where possible), fruits, betel leaves and nuts, rice or akshata, lamps and ghee, incense, camphor, coins, and naivedyam. The Purohit gives the exact list for your format.

Does the Purohit bring the pooja materials?

Both options are available. Choose a Purohit-only booking and arrange samagri from the confirmed list, or a package with the agreed samagri included. Confirm inclusions before payment.

Is a Telugu Purohit available for Lakshmi Puja?

Yes. Telugu is the default; Hindi and English communication are also available. Mention your preference when you enquire so a suitable Purohit is confirmed for the date.

Which Lakshmi Puja mantras are recited?

Commonly the Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanamavali, Sri Suktam, Mahalakshmi Ashtakam and Kanakadhara Stotram, depending on the format and time. Our Lakshmi Pooja Mantralu guide explains each.

Can Lakshmi Puja be performed at a shop or office?

Yes. Diwali Lakshmi Puja at a shop, showroom or office is common, often with the account books (Chopda Pujan). Share the venue, timing constraints and the number of people attending.

What is the cost of Lakshmi Puja in Hyderabad?

Charges depend on the format (pooja alone, with homam, or with Kubera worship), the samagri arrangement, the locality and the date — Diwali evening is the busiest slot of the year. Ask for a quotation with inclusions listed.

How early should I book for Diwali?

Diwali evening Purohits are confirmed weeks in advance. Book as soon as your date and address are fixed; Fridays and other days can usually be arranged at shorter notice.

Can Lakshmi Puja be done online?

Guided online participation can be arranged for families outside Hyderabad and NRIs. Confirm the format, platform and what should be kept ready at home before booking.
