Navagraha Pooja worships the nine grahas — Surya, Chandra, Kuja, Budha, Guru, Sukra, Sani, Rahu and Ketu — each with its own grain, colour, flower and samidha. Wheat and red for Surya, rice and white for Chandra, red gram and red for Kuja, green gram and green for Budha, chickpea and yellow for Guru, white beans and white for Sukra, sesame and black for Sani, black gram and dark blue for Rahu, horse gram and multicoloured for Ketu. The samagri is therefore nine small sets, and a kit that arrives with them mixed costs the purohit half an hour on the day.
The kit is assembled with the navadhanyam in nine separate bags, the nine cloths folded in graha order, and the nine samidha bundles tied and labelled. It serves a Navagraha Pooja on its own or the pooja that opens a Navagraha Homam; for the homam's larger samidha and havan samagri, see the Navagraha Homam Kit.
