A Life Prediction is a reading of the whole dasha sequence rather than a single period — the shape of the chart across the years, and the phases the dashas mark out. It describes broad tendencies, and the further out a reading goes the less specific it can honestly be.

When is Life Prediction useful?
It is asked for when someone wants the long view of a chart rather than an answer about the coming year.
Astrologers differ on method — ayanamsa, dasha system and house division are all matters on which respected traditions disagree. A reading states which conventions it follows, and describes tendency and timing rather than settling a decision for you.

What the astrologer reads for Life Prediction
- The Vimshottari cycle
- The full cycle runs 120 years, and the mahadashas are unequal — Venus holds twenty years, the Sun six. The shape of a life-length reading is mostly a consequence of which lords hold the long periods and where they sit.
- The balance of the first dasha
- The sequence starts at the lord of the Moon's nakshatra, part-way through that lord's period. The unelapsed fraction at birth is what sets every subsequent date, so it is computed before anything is interpreted.
- What each period lord rules
- A dasha does not mean the same thing in two charts. Its character comes from the houses that lord owns and occupies, which is why the same Saturn mahadasha reads differently from chart to chart.
- Saturn and Jupiter transits
- Saturn takes about thirty years to circle the chart and Jupiter about twelve, so across a long reading they are the transits that define phases rather than moments.

What is established, and what varies
The first list is what published practice describes consistently. The second is where schools, regions and sampradayams legitimately differ — and where the astrologer’s own tradition decides the answer rather than a general rule.
Consistently described
- The Vimshottari cycle totals 120 years across nine mahadashas: Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19 and Mercury 17.
- The sequence begins at the lord of the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth, part-way through that lord's period.
- Each mahadasha subdivides into bhuktis in the same proportional order, and again into pratyantar periods below that.
Varies by tradition
- Which dasha system is used. Vimshottari is the most widely used, but Ashtottari, Yogini and Kalachakra are all current and produce different period boundaries.
- How far ahead a reading is considered honest. Practitioners differ sharply, and some decline to read beyond the current and next mahadasha.
- Whether longevity is read at all. Classical texts contain ayurdaya methods; a great many practitioners decline to use them, and no reading here does.

The vocabulary of a whole-life reading
A Life Prediction reads the whole Vimshottari sequence rather than one period — the nine mahadashas in their order, the balance of the first one at birth, what each lord rules and occupies in your chart, and the slow transits of Saturn and Jupiter laid across the years. It describes the shape of a life in broad phases, and the honest thing about it is that the further out it reads, the less specific it can be. It does not date events and it does not say how long you will live.
- The Vimshottari cycle
- Nine mahadashas totalling a hundred and twenty years — Ketu seven, Venus twenty, Sun six, Moon ten, Mars seven, Rahu eighteen, Jupiter sixteen, Saturn nineteen, Mercury seventeen — in a fixed order. No chart runs the full cycle; where yours starts in it is the first thing read.
- The balance at birth
- The sequence begins at the lord of the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth, part-way through that lord's period. How much of it was already elapsed decides where every later boundary falls.
- What each lord rules
- A dasha lord's period takes its character from the houses that graha rules and occupies in your chart. The same Saturn dasha is a different period in two charts, which is why a life reading cannot be generic.
- The phase, not the event
- A mahadasha is years long. What a life reading describes is the character of each phase — what it brings forward, what it asks of you — not the events inside it, which the method does not carry at that range.
- Saturn and Jupiter
- The two slow transits, laid across the sequence. Saturn returns to a place roughly every three decades and Jupiter every twelve years, and where those returns fall against the dashas marks the phases out.
- Diminishing specificity
- The near periods can be read closely; the far ones only in outline. A life reading that is as specific about your seventies as about next year is not being honest about the method.

Every chart enters this cycle at a different point, decided by the Moon's nakshatra at birth, and runs from there. The years are fixed by doctrine; what each period means is fixed by where its lord sits in your chart, which is the part that has to be read.

The wider the lens, the easier it is to say things that sound like knowledge and are not. These are the questions that keep a life reading to what the method carries.

A life reading describes phases, not events, and it cannot date anything. It does not say how long you will live, and an astrologer who offers a figure has left the method for something else. The further out it reads, the less it can honestly say, and a reading equally confident about every decade is not being straight with you. Take it as a frame for the shorter readings, not as a forecast — and take nothing in it as fated, or as a substitute for professional advice on anything that needs it.

- Date of birth, time of birth as precisely as you know it, and place of birth.
- Say so if the birth time is uncertain — it can be narrowed by rectification rather than guessed.
- The specific question you want answered, which focuses the reading far more than a general request.
- For a property or premises, the floor plan and the direction the main entrance faces.

Common questions
Before you book
Will this predict specific events with dates?
No. It describes what the periods indicate and where the phases fall. The further out it goes the broader it must become, and a reading that names specific events years ahead is asserting far more than the method carries.
Does it say how long I will live?
No. Classical texts do contain longevity calculations, and this consultation does not use them. They are unreliable, and telling someone a lifespan from a chart is not something worth doing whether or not it is accurate.
How is this different from an Annual Horoscope?
Scale. An annual reading works through one year in detail, including the transits crossing it. This works through the whole dasha sequence and reports the shape rather than the detail. People often take the long reading once and the annual one repeatedly.
What if I do not know my exact birth time?
Say so rather than estimating. The lagna moves through a full sign in roughly two hours and every divisional chart is computed from the same degrees, so a guessed time propagates an error through the whole reading. Where the time is genuinely unknown the standard approach is rectification — narrowing it by testing candidate lagnas against events that have already happened.
