When is Nadi Dosha Analysis useful?
It is asked for when a match has been objected to on nadi grounds and the family wants the objection examined.
Astrologers differ on method — ayanamsa, dasha system and house division are all matters on which respected traditions disagree. A reading states which conventions it follows, and describes tendency and timing rather than settling a decision for you.

- The nadi of each birth nakshatra
- Each of the 27 nakshatras belongs to one of three nadis — Aadi, Madhya or Antya. The dosha is simply both parties falling in the same one, so establishing each star correctly is the whole computation.
- The weight it carries
- Nadi is 8 of the 36 points, the heaviest single koota. A pair can match well on the other seven and still fall well short of the usual threshold on this one factor alone.
- The recognised exceptions
- Standard practice sets the dosha aside where the two share a nakshatra but fall in different padas, where the moon signs are the same but the stars differ, and in several other named cases.
- What it does not settle
- Nadi says nothing about either seventh house, either Navamsa or either dasha sequence. A match rejected on nadi alone has been rejected on one factor of a reading that was never done.

The vocabulary of a nadi reading
Nadi Dosha Analysis reads the one koota that can sink a guna score on its own. The twenty-seven nakshatras fall into three nadis — Aadi, Madhya and Antya — and both parties sharing one loses all eight of Nadi's points, more than any other koota carries. Several recognised exceptions can set it aside, and the analysis says clearly whether any of them applies. What it does not settle is anything outside the koota: a nadi result is a fact about two birth stars, and nothing else in either chart reaches it.
- The three nadis
- Aadi, Madhya and Antya — a classification of the twenty-seven nakshatras into three groups of nine. Each birth star belongs to exactly one, and the dosha is both parties belonging to the same.
- Eight points
- Nadi carries more than any other koota. Losing it alone drops a thirty-six to twenty-eight and, if anything else is lost, quickly below the conventional eighteen — which is why it is the objection most often raised.
- What nadi is said to represent
- The tradition associates the three nadis with the three constitutional types of Ayurveda — vata, pitta, kapha — and reads the dosha as an excess of one. It is a traditional association, not a medical one, and no reading should treat it as the latter.
- The same-rasi exception
- Both parties with the same moon sign but different nakshatras is the most widely applied cancellation. Widely applied, and also widely stated without checking the nakshatras are actually different.
- The same-lord exception
- Both birth stars ruled by the same graha is read by many schools as setting the dosha aside. Less uniformly accepted than the same-rasi case; a reading should say whether its tradition uses it.
- The pada exception
- Both parties in the same nakshatra but different padas is treated as cancelled by much practice. The narrowest of the exceptions and the one most dependent on a reliable birth time.

Not by itself. There are several recognised exceptions and an assessment that has not tested them has not finished the work. Beyond that, nadi is one koota of eight and the koota system is itself a screening step — neither seventh house, neither Navamsa and neither dasha sequence has been looked at.
What is nadi actually said to represent?
Traditional practice associates the three nadis with constitution, and by extension with the health of children. That is the interpretation the tradition gives; it is not a medical claim and should not be treated as one.
Do we need full birth details for this alone?
The nadi comes from the birth nakshatra, so both dates, times and places are needed to fix each Moon's position. Where a Moon sits near a nakshatra boundary the time matters a great deal, because the neighbouring star may be in a different nadi.
