🎁 For Varalakshmi Vratam
The Varalakshmi vratham pooja items list for the Sravana Friday, in one box: the kalasam face and its decoration, the nine-knot thoram threads tied on the wrist, the toranam, the blouse piece and bangles offered to Lakshmi, and the ghee lamps. Varamahalakshmi pooja items are particular to this vratam — each is annotated below with its use.

About this kit
Varalakshmi Vratam is performed by married women on the Friday before Sravana Purnima, for the well-being of the family. Lakshmi is invited into a kalasam dressed as a goddess — a silver or turmeric face over the coconut, a sari draped round the pot, ornaments — and worshipped with the Varalakshmi Ashtottara and the katha. The thoram, a yellow thread with nine knots and nine flowers, is tied on the right wrist at the end, and the vratam closes with a tamboolam given to the women who attend.
The kit carries the kalasam face and decoration, the thoram threads, a blouse piece and bangles for the offering, the archana set, ghee, wicks and camphor, and supplies the mango toranam, coconut, fruit and tamboolam fresh against the Friday. It is the vratam's own list; for Diwali or the Sravana Friday Lakshmi Pooja without the kalasam dressing, see the Lakshmi Pooja Kit.

Through the ceremony
On the Friday morning the kalasam is filled with rice or water, akshata and a coin, mango leaves are set in its mouth with the coconut on top, and the Lakshmi face and ornaments are fixed and the pot draped in a sari.
The toranam is tied on the door, the peetham is set on a rangoli with the dressed kalasam on rice, and the ghee lamps are lit.
The woman performing the vratam states the sankalpam for the family; Ganapathi is worshipped first with the turmeric image.
Lakshmi is invoked into the kalasam with the dhyana sloka, offered the shodashopachara, and the Varalakshmi Ashtottara is recited with kumkum and flowers; the thoram threads are placed before her and worshipped.
The Varalakshmi katha is read, and the naivedyam — the coconut, fruit, jaggery and the dishes made for the day — is offered.
The thoram is tied on each woman's right wrist, the harathi is sung, and tamboolam with the blouse piece and bangles is given to the women who attend.
