Shasti Purthi

Shasti Purthi is the sixtieth-birthday observance, kept in many families as a renewal of the marriage vows. Its muhurtham is customarily read from the person's birth nakshatra rather than from the calendar birthday.

How it works

From your dates to the chosen window

1

Share the charts and the window

Birth details of everyone involved, and the range of dates that are practical for you.

2

The panchangam is checked

Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and lagna are read against those charts for each candidate date.

3

You receive the muhurtham

The exact window, with alternatives, and the reasoning for why that time was chosen.

Timing guide

When is Shasti Purthi fixed?

It is asked for a few months ahead, around the completion of sixty years by the reckoning the family follows.

Panchangam calculations vary with the almanac and the location used, so two sources can differ on the same day. The window given here is computed for your city, and any date fixed by an external party — a venue, a registrar, an employer — is worked within rather than overridden.

What is checked

How the window is arrived at

1

Tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana for each candidate date

2

The charts of the people involved, read against those dates

3

Lagna and the position of the Moon in the chosen window

4

Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam, Gulika and durmuhurtham excluded

Before you ask

What to have ready

  • Birth details — date, exact time and place — for everyone the occasion involves.
  • The range of dates that is practical for you, and any date already fixed by someone else.
  • The city where the event will take place, since the timings are computed for that location.
  • Any constraint worth knowing: a venue booking, an office appointment, a travel schedule.

Ask before committing a venue or a deposit. Once the date is paid for, the muhurtham can only work within it — and if the available windows that day are weak, you will be told so plainly rather than given a time that merely sounds acceptable.

Common questions

Before you book

How far in advance should I ask for a Shasti Purthi?

Two to four weeks is comfortable. Shorter notice is workable, but it narrows the dates available and may leave a weaker window as the only option.

What if no good muhurtham falls in my dates?

You are told so directly, with the next suitable windows and what makes them better. We do not present a weak time as a good one.

Can Shasti Purthi be arranged outside Hyderabad?

Yes. In-person service covers Hyderabad and the surrounding districts, and the same service is available anywhere else online, including for families abroad.

Which languages are available?

Telugu, Hindi and English. You can ask for a specific language when you book.
