- Sade Sati runs for Dhanussu while Shani transits Vrischika, Dhanussu and Makara — the 12th, 1st and 2nd from the rasi, at roughly two and a half years each.
- Kantaka and Ashtama Shani are Shani in Meena and Karkataka — the 4th and 8th from Dhanussu. These are frequently reported as Sade Sati and are not.
- Guru transiting Makara, Mesha, Mithuna, Simha or Tula — the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th from Dhanussu — is the reckoning behind the annual guru peyarchi readings.
